JOB TITLE: Editorial Project Manager
REPORTS TO: Program Manager - Satellite
FLSA STATUS: Full-Time, Exempt, Salary
Job Summary:
You will serve as the Editorial Project Manager supporting the Xbox Communications team.
Essential Functions:
Work closely with Xbox Comms, Xbox 3rd Party Publishing Marketing, and ID@Xbox teams to develop originally authored content that meets the needs of our readers and the Xbox gaming business at large.
Work with Xbox Wire’s Editor-in-Chief daily to identify new opportunities for editorial coverage and explore new types of compelling content for our readers, with a special focus on 3PP content publishing on Xbox platforms.
Author a variety of original content to be published on Xbox Wire. Broad examples include long-form features, in-depth interviews, originally authored previews, partner-approved articles, ghostwriting for executives, promotion and sales features, and more.
Attend gaming events in Southern California to create original content in support of partner titles publishing on Xbox platforms.
Work directly with our International Xbox Wire teams (Brazil, France, Germany, LATAM, and Japan) to localize Xbox Wire content to reach our global audience.
Co-manage two editorial calendars: the Global News Calendar (used for cross-team awareness of planned content publishing) and Microsoft Planner (used for internal planning for the Xbox Wire team).
Co-manage the @XboxWire Twitter, Bluesky, and WhatsApp accounts to promote Xbox Wire articles across social media.
Author the weekly Xbox Wire feature, Next Week on Xbox, one of the site’s consistently best performing articles that’s translated across five languages.
Publish content to Xbox Wire using our WordPress-powered CMS and provide site enhancement suggestions as needed.
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
Edit, and improve where needed, third-party authored content to be published on Xbox Wire to align with our internal style guide requirements (AP Style).
Cultivate strong internal and external relationships with industry developers, publishers, and internal stakeholders.
Represent Xbox Wire at industry events (E3, GDC, etc.) and attend press events either virtually or in-person that may require travel out of state authoring original content covering said events.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Diverse experience with long-form, ghost-writing, and in-depth interview style content
Strong attention to detail
Strong project management skills
Excellent written & verbal communication skills
Education and Experience:
5+ years of experience as writer, editor, project manager, producer, or similar role creating original written content
Professional experience in the entertainment or games industry
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Work Environment:
This role routinely requires using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and printers.
This position may require the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Must be able to operate various electronic devices.
Some travel may be required.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This role is designated as Hybrid. Hybrid is defined as a combination of remote and on-site work in the Greater Los Angeles Area. You are expected to work from a remote location except when attending LA-local industry events. The office generally operates from 9am-5pm, but days and hours of this position may vary week-to-week. A willingness to work varying schedules including weekends, nights, holidays, long shifts (10+ hours), and/or travel as needed is required for productions. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role is $80k - $92k. Compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. For this role, the Company will offer medical, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
